The Nucleus of Neural Morphogenesis (NEMO) is a collaborative research initiative unique in Chile and South America that combines expertise in molecular neuroscience, development, morphogenesis, neuropathology, and quantitative in vivo imaging to address the genetic basis of form, structure, and functional organisation in the central nervous system. The synergistic trans-disciplinary approach of NEMO uses selected genetic model organisms such as fly, mouse and zebrafish, and experimental strategies that allow the discovery of novel genes and their functional analysis on sub-cellular, cellular, and supra-cellular levels, through quantitative in vivo imaging techniques with high temporal and spatial resolution.
